Cannot keep unit on

My left hearing aid will not hold a charge at all, even after repair three times. It beeps after appx 30 seconds and turns itself off. Then 20 minutes later I can use it for another 30 seconds. They told me my left ear was hot. I put it in the right ear and the same thing happens, but when using the correct hearing aid for the right ear, that does not happen. I use the same batteries for the right hearing aid with no problem at all. I cannot afford another hearing aid and the insurance company will not authorize a new one because they say this one can be fixed. I paid over $200 for it to be fixed before, to no avail. Total waste of money.

Dr. I don't remember

The $6000 hear aides I purchased are worthless and doctor would not stand behind them. I have not worn them and have been in a drawer The aides would worked for 10 minutes at a time and then and would go out, I returned to doctor and he adjusted using a computer but it did not resolve the problem. I just seemed to get excuses from the doctor about ear wax etc. If ear wax is such a problem how can you sell these? Doesn't everyone have earwax? I think I should have been offerred another hearing aid given the price. I wish I could donate these to someone who could use them.

Siemens Pyrolitic Oven Glass Broke at second pyrolitic cleaning

In the second pyrolitic cleaning, the glass of the oven fractured. Given the cleaning was after the warranty period Siemens does not accept any liability. The oven is three years old but I have performed the pyrolitic cleaning only twice. First time I did the pyrolitic I used a power level that was not the maximum. In the second pyrolitic cleaning I used the emaximum power level and the glass fractured. The oven model is HB76T5605. In my opinion, this seems a clear case of quality, hidden defect and/or design defect and Siemens does not respond. In case you are affected by same problem please contact me at jpsb2003@***.com

Hearing aid repair

My mother in law has broken the battery door on her hearing aid is being charged 560.00 to repair it. This is minus a "170.00 building discount" because she lives in a assisted living complex. So if she did not live in this building I guess the total would have been over $700.00!!!

I feel like this company is taking advantage of senior citizens!!

Does anyone know what the usual and customary amount would be for this type of hearing aid repair!

Her aid is a type that is molded to her ear as is Siemens Brand.

My husband is an independent hearing aid dispenser and he replaces battery doors for free, not only for our clients, but goes to assisted living centers to clean and service hearing aids. So sorry this industry is has it's share of greedy, crooked practitioners and it is hard to separate them from the good ones.

@Kugie.....I'm a hearing aid dispenser (38 years)....and don't charge my patients for battery doors, unless the case (or faceplate) is broken, I live in WI, but probably have met your husband if he's a member of the AZ Hearing aid ***. (I have worked in AZ)...The biggest offenders are the "big-box" stores, and are really not the fault of the poor ***, who works there....G-d bless you, we are among the lowest paid health care providers, and most of us really care about our patients....Shalom !

My Ma just paid $3300 for "discounted" new Siemens hearing aids from the Beltone store.

Luckily enough they had a 90 return and Ma took them back.

We got brand hearing pod aids for $400 on their site.

She says they work as good as the others and she saved so much.

I want to see what kind of exotic vehicles those fat cats at Beltone drive with their profits.

We could all be comfortable fat cats in an equal system where people are paid as equals.

I was quoted $300 to replace a door. Youtube has a good video on how to replace and the demonstrator says that he gives the battery doors away. Can't find the darn things on line though.

Guest

I would like to respond to the complaint regarding lady being charged for being charged 560.00 to repair a broken battery door on her hearing aid. When a door is attached to a hearing aid its simple to replace the door when it breaks off.

The problem is when the hinge that holds on the door is broken from the face plate of the aid. IF it is programmable hearing aid then the faceplate of the the would have to be replace. This is were the cost is higher. The good thing is when the faceplate it replaced that means all parts are replaced and the hearing aid is now back to new internally.

The complex may have a discount program for their tentants with the company providing the services.

When a hearing aid is replated it is common for the cost to be somewhere from 580.00 to 990.00. I hope this would be helpful for the family member.

Siemens washing machine & its service

My Washing Machine (WME-2000) purchased 8 yrs back has already costed me more than the cost price for its maintenance. But more over Siemens service is getting worst day by day. Customer care people have no manners to talk, they even show no regret on their fault. Since last 2 months my washing m/c has broken down 2-3 times. And the mechanic is not able to fix up the fault. He un-necessarily replaced the shock absorbers while the fault is somewhere else. When I called Siemens CC on 24th Nov'11, the lady talked to the echanic and assured that the complaint will be attended the next day. But nobody turned up till date. I kept on calling Saturday but there was no response. When I called on 28th morning, the lady told that there is no complaint logged on 24th, so i will treat it a fresh complaint. What the *** is this? Unexpectable behaviour from such a reputed company.

Siemens hearing aide problems

I have had these hearing aides for a year and a half. When they work they are great, but they often do not work well. A few examples: I have been driving and suddenly I get the tone that tells me they are turning off - for no reason. Them they turn back on and begin to cycle through their three ranges, each with it's own tone cycle. Often this creates a littletune which is distracting. It is like they are being affected by radio signals. Battery use is erratic. For example, yesterday I got the signal that the batteries were weak.I changed the batteries. Today I got the weak signal again and they shut down. These batteries are supposed to last 8-10 days, not 12 hours. Whilethere are many aspects of these devices that I like, they are aconstant problem and I find that I can not rely on them to be working correctly when I need them. Are there others who are having these problems?

Siemens far superior in quality and service

I am an independent Board Certified State Licensed hearing instrument specialist. The public needs to do their homework before buying. Never pay before delivery. An ethical company will have a long history of happy customers who recomend them. I see many bad comments about the profession, unfortunately these people went to the wrong facility probably without checking into them at all. Good hearing aids are medical grade technology costing me thousands to buy. You cannot compare them to things like computers and DVD players. You do not need to be tested and fit by a pro. to get a DVD player. The average dispenser outside of a large city will do well to make 30 to 50K per year, not much of a gravy train. If medicare ever gets involved availability and service will suffer. If you need a contractor doctor or whatever, be sure you know who your dealing with. If they won't take the time to sit down and address all your concerns before the sale WALK OUT! Doctors are not required to even be licensed to sell aids. If it were such a gravy train they would all be selling. Like my local ENT found out, fitting hearing aids is a lot of work with little return, he no longer is involved. The reality is it takes real dedication to be in this business and do your best to help people, the public really does not know how good they have it if they just go to the right person to start with. I recomend ONLY SIEMENS. Have a great day.

Damaged with in two and a half years. No sevice

I purchase a front loading washing machine for Rs.22000/-approx. The drum found damaged with in 3years. I purchased the said one on believing the leadership on the Germen tech. For repair they demand 150 dollars(7000 INR) It is not good on the part of a prompt and fomous company like SIEMENS. The replacement can be done as if the guarantee is there. Please advice me on the matter and give instruction to the service centre to replace the drum free of cost. Thank You. Seimans Hearing Aid

I bought a top of the line hearing aid from Siemens 8 years ago. While it was adequate, it never fulfilled completely the promise of the device and I quit using it over time.

Recently, after a movie at which I could not hear all of the dialogue, I got it out and tried it. It did not work properly so I took it to an audiologist (not the one who sold it) who said that it needed to be repaired at the factory and she sent it in. She called me yesterday and said that Siemens will not service one of their hearing aids that is more than 5 years old! I'm furious.

I paid more for that thing than I did for my first car. I think this is inexcusable and on that basis, plus the lack of complete satisfaction, I would never buy this product again, and will make it a point never to buy anything with a Siemens brand on it.

Hearing Aids Ripoff

Hearing Aids cost too much. $4000 and up per pair. Why? Because the FDA has since 1977 classified them as Medical Devices. That means they can only be sold by a medically licensed dispenser or an Audiologist. Result no low cost over the counter aids and high prices from the licensed dispensers. Hearing Aids are just miniture audio amplifiers with sound conditioning. BlueTooth in the ear devices sold by Radio Shack etc. contain more parts and very similar chips....but cost less than $100. Write your congressman. Write the FDA. Scream bloody murder....If you are hard of hearing you are being ripped off. All because of a anachronistic government regulation. Ed j k k k klk klkl;

go to Costco or Sams Club. No commissions, so no pressure. Or maybe try the Mdhearingaid sold by Amazon for less than $200. Many many many happy customers, they must be doing something right.

For a complex hearing problem, find the best Audi in town and mortgage your house. Hearing is important.

But for average age-related hearing loss, Costco is a great place to shop.

Guest

After several years of nagging from my wife I finally caved in and scheduled an appointment for a hearing evaluation. No surprise, I had substantial hearing loss in both ears.

However, I was floored when I heard the cost for two hearing aids...$3400!! I can't believe it.

I could upgrade my PC, printer/fax, and monitor for less than half that. What a gravy train these guys must have, as well as a large lobby paying congressmen.

Thanks for the protection senators, but I would just asoon take my chances without such poppycock!

Look at the warranty from siemens to distributor

Siemens is a great company and the # 1 seller in the world. Before buying ask what the agreement is from Siemens to the dispenser.

You will be shocked. The Government allows distributor 90 days to return product to Siemens and can still sell the internal parts as new. I bought ITE in 2001 with 90 day trial and got a full refund. Decided the aid was not a good match for me because of my working environment.

I'm now retired and have a 90 day trial and two year warranty on a different set of Siemens aids. Siemens will take your complaint to heart and follow up.

I KNOW!!! I retired from Siemens from different division with the same goals of customer satisfaction.

I am a current Siemens user looking at an upgrade, and could nto get the information I wanted defining their warranty. The search option on their website returns no reference to warranty terms.

I contacted them, and here is their email reply:

Hello Jon and thank you for contacting Siemens Hearing Instruments, U.S. We appreciate your inquiry and interest in Siemens hearing aids, and thank you for thinking of us. Siemens offers a broad range of hearing instruments for every requirement and all hearing needs. You have a wide choice among many different models and performance levels.

Each independent dealer who sells our hearing aids has the ability to sell extended services and warranty options as well, either at the time that the hearing aids are dispensed, or prior to the original warranty expiration.

This means that as a consumer, you have several options available to you. You may consider buying an extended warranty up front - adding on to the standard one-year warranty that comes with all Siemens hearing aids with an additional one or two years coverage, for a possible total of 3 full years.

You may opt to wait until the original one-year warranty is about to expire and decide then whether to extend coverage.

So, if you purchase instruments with a warranty longer than one year, you are, in some way, paying for extended warranty coverage. Not inherently "bad," just not very clear to the consumer.

I appreciate your post. I also wrote that SMS advertising provides a cost effective method of targeting promotions to specific customer profiles. You might want to remind customers of specific events or promotions, but for whatever reasons, SMS allows you to pass information directly to the right customer at very affordable prices and fast delivery.

Siemens Hearing Aids are a high end product, I know because I fit Siemens Hearing Aids at my office in Akron, Ohio. They manufacture several other off brands that are not as good in my opinion...The real issue is to find a dispenser that is knowledgeable in fitting and adjusting the hearing aids.

As in any profession, their are different levels of experience and skills.

I purchased Siemens hearing aids through Costco, almost $3,000.00 dollars, help is minimal, as for eliminating background noise, it doesn't happen, most of the time they amplify background noise.

Guest

There is no doubt that manufacturers give dispensers 90 days, but to give a consumer that much time, on the money, could put the dispenser in a crunch. I give my patients 30 to 60 days, depending on how they are doing. I'm up front about giving them a good trial period and if necessary I tell them I can give them that cuz the manu gives me 90 days. Also, a good dispenser will resist being paid until he/she feels the fit and settings are right for the patient.

As to Siemens selling the 90 day old parts as new...I'm sure it's done but there are some manufacturers that throw the parts away. Waste? Perhaps, but do YOU want to wear used parts??? Siemens is known to be one of the top two hearing aid companies in the world. They have good products, although some of the other biggies do too.

As for buying hearing aids on the internet, Siemens denies any wrongdoing even though they knowingly distribute to mass sellers of hearing aids. It is unethical to do so or at least the company should require a written statement saying they are not responsible. Even the internet companies should not be programming the hearing aids without the person there. And as for doing it yourself, as a consumer I see your point however, knowing what I know about hearing, hearing aids and sound, I would never suggest a layperson doing it themselves. I would have not doubt that these new hearing aids are much better...they better be for the money...but, this does not mean you are fit correctly.

What a shame the industry has come to this and Siemens is at the top of the list for this type of unethical behavior. This is just not about money for the dispenser either. I am actually fitting a 10 year old at this time whose parents bought the aids online with no regard to age, hearing loss etc...Am I making the profit? Of course not, but I'm helping this person get the best fit they can.

Guest

I have worn Siemens hearing aids in the past. Nothing wrong with them. I think the experience, good or bad, will be dependent on the person who dispensed the aids to you.

When I went to replace my Siemens aids about a year ago my Audi. quoted me $5,300 for a new set of open ear hearing aids.

Needless to say I left her office and I did my research prior to shelling out that kind of money and finally went with an internet hearing aid supplier, HearSource.com I paid less than two grand for them and I absolutely love them. I hear great and without all the background noise that I had with my previous Siemens hearing aids.

I am able to do the fine tuning myself. HearSource provided all the equipment and software so that I can adjust my hearing aids myself using my own home PC. Initially they did the adjustments for me via the internet, but after a bit, I was doing the adjustments myself without their help.

For me their has been no downside for purchasing my hearing aids from HearSource via the internet. Great hearing aids and at a much lower price.

Guest

And your research shows 95% of the consumers are happy? BUll!

YOU are just as bad as the "hotheads" spouting off about their experiences.

Perhaps if there were less truth to your subject you wouldn't be so defensive! I think we can safely classify you in that side of posters whom are obviously mad or unhappy people.

If you were successful, you wouldn't have the time to be reading these posts!!!

Guest

WHAT??? The components are not re-used as new.

The problem with this forum and the Internet is that anyone can put in whatever bolony they deem true without knowing what they are talking about. That goes for all these forums as well. Half of what these forums contain are from know-it-alls who want to be heard. At least they can say what they want in the forums and that makes them feel better.

This is not an encyclopedia and should not be used in your research for any type of product or service. Maybe some people have bad experiences and they feel better by posting them here. What about the other 95% of the people. They don't write in here because they are fine with what they have.

Don't rely on these complaint forums regardless of product or industry. You are only hearing one side of it, posted by obviously mad or unhappy people

Siemens digital hearing aid ripoff.

My dad has used a pair of Siemens digital in the ear hearing aids for the past year and they have been a disaster. I was with him when he got the sales pitch from his audiologist and they seemed like a great idea. Instead they are so poorly designed that the battery has gotten stuck inside several times this past year needing a trip to the audiologist each time. It's unbelievable that something costing several thousand dollars can be so flimsy in construction. They are certainly not built for elderly hands to be able to easily change the battery (which needs to be done weekly). They are now out of warranty after a year and useless as the battery is stuck inside again. Dad's going to get a free Veteran's Administration hearing aid instead.

There is no excuse for charging so much for such a poor product. Siemens should be ashamed to be taking elderly people's money!

Stay away from:

- Siemens digital hearing aids -

- Siemens digital in the ear hearing aids -

I have in ear Seimens hearing aids and both have cracked within one year of purchase. I am now out of warranty.

What the lady at the front desk said when I went in to have the latest repair was revealing "yes they are making them thinner now - order to save money" I went away and thought about it and I realise that good quality fracture proof plastic is not difficult to make and does not cost more than a few cents than bad plastic that fractures like glass if you accidentally drop it on the table less than a foot. I realised that the company was making money from having hearing aids constantly reshelled and I am not happy. I paid $4,500 for my pair of hearing aids and I doubt they will last for 2 years.

They only offer 90 days on the shell warranty even if you pay for an extended.

Guest

Might not get a lot of relief from the VA-they just gave me a new pair of digital Seimen's hearing aids....your Dad may not get a different brand.

Guest

I am wearing my original OTICON hearing aids right now. My newer SIEMENS's NITRO's have been nothing but trouble, and my hearing aid dealer sucks.

In fact, I just found her assistant has not been licensed in 3 years.

I'm very careful with my hearing aids. I've had the cracked case on the Siemen's while changing a battery. 5 months ago was a mic repair.

Now it needs another repair (weak).

Then the hearing aid dealer gets all rude again. I hate these Siemen's with a passion.

As someone who has worn hearing aids since age 6 for 30 years I have never had to pay.there are plenty of places to help kids and adults hear better. I will be getting Siemens within 2 weeks.

My current aid is also a Siemens. After 5 year no work done major or minor I still have one that works after going into saltwater the case was secure so it did not get ruined. My other one was dropped and the case started falling apart. The salt water ruined that.

Yes I know these dont go in water but I was saving my daughter. Nothing is perfect :? even devices that help us. But I don't see too many people really being valid in their complaints.

There is always a warranty and a extended is normally offered before the other expires.

So if you played you cards right even if the aid didn't work then you should have anything to cry about :cry :? I have only payed one time to have them recased when the dog ate them and they still worked just had no case!

I work for an Large Government Statutory Body that has one of the biggest footprints in the hearing aid industry. I am an Audiometrist and also a qualified aid technician.

We dispense hearing aids and hearing rehabilitation to eligible clients under the voucher scheme. The relentless pressure from our top heavy management to sell top up aids to clients is simply embarrassing and downright profiteering from pensioners. I also have over 30 years in the Pro Audio industry ..and I am going to say this ...Hearing aids are the biggest ripoff in society today. They are quite simply an audio amplifier and as everyone knows ..yes you can buy different levels of audio amplifiers but and its a big but ..manufacturers of hearing aids each year rebadge and recase and come up with fancy names for alogorythms built into the aids designed to help you hear better.

The problem is making things louder does not make things clearer and overcome the sensorinerual component of a hearing loss. Simply put if your cochlea has damage then a hearing aid is like trying to put adidas runners on and jog a marathon if both of your knees are badly damaged. They should be more reasonabley priced and advertising should be reigned in because for the most part it is false. My bosses say I dont sell enough top up because I am not offering it to the client in the right way.

They want me to manipulate people and it really is horrible..I will be leaving the industry and am compiling enough evidence so that I can expose the scams on Australian National TV. There is going to be an outcry when Australia finds out that Govt employees earn commission by selling aids to patients who would do just as well with fully subsidised aids that the government would supply to them for free.

MY MOTHER JUST BOUGHT THIS HEARING AID MARCH 2011 - SHE HAS BEEN TO THE AUDIOLOGIST 4 TIMES & HAD TO HAVE THE HEARING AID REPAIRED TWICE. IT'S JULY 2011 & WE JUST BROUGHT BACK TODAY, THE AUDIOLOGIST SAID IT NEEDED TO BE "SERVICED" AGAIN (SHE JUST GOT IT BACK 2 WEEKS AGO) SHE IS EXTREMELY CAREFUL W/ HER HEARING AID AS SHE COMPLETELY DEPENDENT ON IT. SIEMENS REFUSED TO GIVE HER HER MONEY BACK OR REPLACE THE DEVICE, I BELIEVE SIEMENS TAKES ADVANTAGE OF ELDERLY PEOPLE, DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!
